Raleigh Institute of Biblical Studies was founded in 1995 by Dr. William Suttles. Dr. Suttles is the Director of the Institute. He is the President of WPJL Christian Radio in Raleigh, North Carolina and Pastor of Tabernacle Christian Worship Center. Dr. Suttles's vision was to provide training for many in Christian ministry who have never had the opportunity to go away to Bible college or seminary, but have a serious and sincere desire to be more fully equiped to serve God in their life and vocation. The courses are designed to deepen one's understanding not just academically, but spiritually as well. The school has three courses of study which may be taken together or separately.
First is the Associate Degree in Christian Ministerial Studies program: these classes are taught on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month (Jan-June & Sept-Dec), from 9 AM - 12 Noon. There is no grading, but a Student Response Form must be filled out at the completion of each class.
The second is the Christian Life School of Theology. As a member of the Christian Life Educators Network a student is able to earn all the way up to a Doctor of Theology at RIBS (in November 2016 4 of our students received Doctoral Degrees). These classes are held on the 3rd Thursday (7-10 PM), Friday (7-10 PM) & Saturday (9 AM -1 PM) of each month (Jan-June & Aug-Nov). All 10 hours of the lecture must be attended by the student. There is also a required textbook and a course syllabus provided for each course. A 100 question open-book take-home exam must be passed to receive credit for each course taken. Courses may also be audited at a slightly reduced rate with no exam required.
The third course of study is the Antioch School for the Teaching Ministry, a year long mentorship program designed for individual Christians who believe God has specifically called them as teachers in the Body of Christ. The members of this class come together one Saturday a month from 9 AM till 1 PM. We are now accepting applications for the 2018 school year with begins in January of 2018. Go to the Antioch page for information and an application.
Finally, is the First Saturday Morning Seminary Classes which are held on the first Saturday morning of each month from 9-12. These are timely classes designed to take you deeper into a subject of vital importance to Christians in the current environment of the Church in America today. This is a certificate program and a Certificate in Ministerial Studies will be awarded for every 10 classes attended. Tuition for each class is $35 (payable at the door on the day of the class) and includes a full set of class lecture notes.
Raleigh Institute of Biblical Studies adheres to a biblical orthodoxy as has been held by the Church historically through the centuries. Our school is Evangelical with a Charismatic emphasis.
